Overview

This section is supposed to help you get started using this platform.

First Steps

The use of this service is organized into “studies.” A study involves defining the brand colors.

You can create a suitable study for each design project. If you want to conduct an analysis for a client or brand, this is the right approach. You can then document the results for each project in a separate study.

A study is either “in progress” or “approved.” For a study that is “in progress,” you can change and analyze brand colors. A completed study freezes the data set. It remains available as a reference for the decision point.

You can purchase a study in the shop. There are three levels. It is possible to upgrade the study at a later date by purchasing an upgrade.

What you get from a study

You will primarily receive two answers:

1: How is my brand visually positioned in terms of color in relation to the competition and within the industry?

2: Are the brand colors suitable for digital and physical applications?

The first question is strategic. By using the study, you gain access to a large brand color database.

The second question concerns practical applicability.

Downloadable images or PDF documents make the results easy to present and share.

They support you in explaining your decision. They reduce discussions and further loops.

Structure of a Study

A study is divided into the following sections:

Configuration

In the configuration, you specify the name of the study.

The colors are divided into a primary color and other brand colors. The primary color is used for industry comparison.

Changes to the primary brand color within the study are automatically applied to the configuration.

Positioning

Here you can visualize competitors and their brand colors in a color wheel.

Industry

Here you can visualize the distribution of industry brand colors and their primary brand color in a color wheel.

Emotional fit

In this section, you can see an analysis of your brand colors in terms of emotional associations. Each color is assigned to one of 12 basic colors. This allows it to be compared with the results of a very comprehensive meta-study.

Design system

In this section, you will find an overview of the use of colors in digital applications. You will receive information on accessibility. In addition, you will receive a customizable system with semantic colors (neutral, info, success, warning, error). The design system supports light and dark mode and can be exported as a token.

Applications

Under Applications, you will find an overview of the applicability of brand colors in physical applications. Please note that the color codes were determined digitally. Physical tests are necessary to ensure the desired result.

Approve/Export

In this section, you can briefly add a few sentences to your decision. Approve the study here. You can export it as a PDF.

Decision points

In this area, you will have access to your decision points. This means that if you have updated the study at least once, you will have access to previous versions in this section.

Methodology

For the applied methodology you find a special page under methodology. You can find information on color classification Color classification performance.

Submit a brand

The database contains approximately 400,000 brands and continues to grow. If you are missing a brand, you can submit it under “Submit a brand”. The information will be reviewed, enriched, and approved. The information will then also be available to other users.
